There is no doubt that mainstream American media fails to adequately represent South Asians. American-Indian pop-singer, Zoya, is on a mission to change that. Originally from California, Zoya attended Berklee College of Music and kicked off her music career in India as per the advice of her managers. After achieving massive success in the Indian market, Zoya set a new goal- return to the US and conquer the US pop music industry. In this episode, she talks to us about the twists & turns of the music industry, the rise of pop music in India, how she found her personal sound, and the identity crises she has had to grapple with throughout her career.
