Why Zoe Kravitz is my style icon

It is no surprise that American actress, model, and singer Zoe Kravitz has impeccable style, and she’s no stranger to top 10 lists of celebrity fashion icons. She manages to maintain a minimalist, utilitarian street-style that is also sophisticated, fresh, and unique. For most people, you either love her style or you hate it, and I happen to fall into the former category. So, here’s why I love Zoe Kravitz’ style and why I think we could all take a few tips from her regardless of how well our style matches up with hers.
What I admire about Zoe is her strong sense of personal identity in her style partly due to the fact that she knows what she likes and what looks good on her. She has curated a wardrobe of a few signature items that she is consistently seen wearing, including her black loafers or Mary Janes and tiny retro sunglasses, which can be seen in nearly all photos of her. She also frequently wears denim, long coats, and lose-fitting clothing that is easy to throw on and comfortable. By understanding what looks good on her and curating her personal style, Zoe is able to do a lot with a little and actually re-wear her clothes. What sets her apart to me as well, is that her style feels accessible and easy-to-replicate, with limited branding and basic pieces.
Denim - I may be biased here because denim just might be my favorite fabric; however, Zoe shows us why denim is so versatile. Whether on the red carpet or on the street, Zoe can dress up a pair of jeans with kitten heels and a shimmery top or make a statement with a classic Canadian tux.
Use of color - While most people would characterize Zoe’s style as minimalist with dark/neutral tones, she surprises us with pops of color that seamlessly integrate into her wardrobe. She is often seen wearing blue and yellow tones that complement her skin tone. Again, the same tiny sunglasses and loafers or Mary Janes make a reappearance, creating continuity between her looks.
Repetition - Zoe is an outfit repeater and I love it! Nowadays it seems pretty rare, particularly among the celebs, to re-wear the same outfits or even individual pieces as often as it seems Zoe does. However, the way in which she incorporates her staple items into her wardrobe keeps the outfits fresh but classic.
